THE OPPORTUNITY

This full time 12-month faculty position will teach in both the on-ground BSN program and in the Center for Simulation in the Foundations of Nursing Practice lab. Additionally, under the direction of the Executive Director of Nursing and the Director of Simulation and Interprofessional Education, this faculty will assist with development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the Foundations Lab and Simulation curricula.

The Simulation Faculty will also engage in running simulations as directed by the Director of the CSIE. The Simulation Faculty will also collaborate and work in conjunction with the Simulation Technician to set up for labs and simulation.

Lab Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with Director CSIE, Simulation Technician and other stakeholders to coordinate, implement and evaluate foundations lab curricula and flow in the first six weeks of most terms.
• Collaborate with Director CSIE to ensure lab activities are properly mapped to course objectives and program outcomes with integration across the curriculum.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up of lab spaces.
• Prepare prior to the implementation of lab curricula by reading and watching assigned ATI modules and videos.
• Teach lab curricula according to lab guides and direction from CSIE Director.
• Grade all submitted assignments for assigned group of students.
• Actively participate in student lab competency evaluations.

Simulation Responsibilities:

• Participate in event and scenario planning meetings related to curriculum and learning objective expertise.
• Collaborate with Director CSIE to ensure simulation activities are properly mapped to course objectives and program outcomes with integration across the curriculum.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up of simulation scenarios; inclusive but not limited to implementation of patient care equipment and application/removal of manikin moulage.
• Facilitate structured pre-briefings inclusive of establishing safe-space learning, discussing simulated patient diagnosis for clarification, and touring the simulated healthcare spaces.
• Facilitate structured debriefings using the evidence-based framework of Debriefing for Meaningful Learning to promote reflective learning and clinical reasoning.
• Work collaboratively to conduct new faculty orientation on principles of simulation, educational techniques, pre-brief, debrief, and other activities as appropriate including but not limited to the technical aspects of operating the simulators and other equipment.
• Assist with set-up of simulation scenarios and equipment.
• Ensure appropriate fidelity and realism of simulation events including moulage, equipment, supplies, rooms and furniture to meet simulation-based learning objectives.
