Ombudsman Educational Services, a Chance Light Education brand, seeks an English Teacher to serve middle and high school students in an alternative education setting. You will deliver personalized, credit-bearing English instruction to students who have dropped out, are at risk, or need a nontraditional environment. Responsibilities include planning standards-based lessons, differentiating instruction, managing behavior, and using data to drive progress. You will collaborate closely with school districts and families to support student success in a safe, structured, and mission-driven program focused on student growth and graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based English lessons for middle and high school students.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs in a small, alternative education setting.
  • Assess student progress and use data to adjust instruction and support credit recovery.
  • Implement effective classroom and behavior management strategies to maintain a safe, structured environment.
  • Collaborate with school districts, families, and support staff to align goals and services.
  • Develop and maintain individualized learning plans and contribute to IEPs as appropriate.
  • Provide ongoing academic and social-emotional support to at-risk and nontraditional students.
  • Use educational technology and online platforms to support instruction and track progress.
  • Maintain accurate records, grades, and documentation in compliance with district and program requirements.
  • Participate in professional development to strengthen skills in special education, behavior support, and student advocacy.
