E&R and Education Internships

The American Institute of Steel Construction is accepting applications from students enrolled in structural, architectural, or civil engineering programs for a paid internship position at AISC'sheadquarters in downtown Chicago. Students may apply for a full-time summer internship, apart-time (minimum 15 hours per week) internship that takes place during the school year, orboth. AISC interns support the AISC Engineering and Research Department and Education Department.

Qualified applicants:

• Will be enrolled in either a Master’s degree curriculum or at least the third year of a Bachelor of Science curriculum.
• Will have completed at least one course in structural steel design.
• Should be planning to continue with their education as follows:
  • For a summer internship, planning to enroll in coursework the following fall.
  • For a school year internship, graduating sometime after the internship.
• Are authorized to work in the United States.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

• Developing technical resources for structural steel design.
• Writing multiple choice quizzes to accompany recorded lectures on structural steel designand construction.
• Proofreading drafts of educational material such as slides, standards, teaching aids, design guides, and other resources for technical accuracy.
