Overview

The Permit Coordinator is responsible for preparing building permit submittal packages, coordinating the efficient submittal, approval, and retrieval from local jurisdictions, and serving as a liaison between Sunrun and jurisdictional employees. The position resolves red‑line corrections, prepares for upcoming requirement changes, and communicates the status of each permit while working closely with internal teams to meet branch and company goals.

Responsibilities
  • Review, prepare, submit, and receive permit packages in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
  • Coordinate payment and reimbursement of permit fees according to company guidelines.
  • Work with internal teams and jurisdictional employees to understand and resolve any jurisdictional comments.
  • Collaborate with jurisdictions and Sunrun Design Engineering teams to fully understand, communicate, and resolve AHJ corrections.
  • Advocate for Sunrun and streamline permit processes with local jurisdictions.
  • Understand local AHJ requirements related to the permit process and update the AHJ database as needed.
  • Schedule appointments to meet customers and obtain signatures, final paperwork sign‑off, and payment collection.
  • Participate in the Power+ program, cross‑training in comparable work across departments as needed.
  • Organize completed paperwork and process payments securely, if assigned.
  • Prepare project documentation for construction teams.
  • Utilize software systems to record progress of various tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Minimum of 1 year of field construction experience (required).
  • Experience with construction permitting (preferred).
  • Exposure to PV design and installation processes (preferred).
  • Must maintain a clear driving record and pass a driving background check.
  • Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
  • Regional permitting licenses preferred, but not required.
  • Motivated team player seeking success.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Professional appearance and interaction.
  • Proficient with Google Suite, MS Excel, MS Word, and workflow management platforms.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Driving for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment for assigned tasks.
  • Adequate visual and hearing acuity to follow instructions and ensure task accuracy.
  • Operate office equipment, including computers.
  • Commercial travel as directed or required.
  • Work safely on construction jobsites and warehouses.
