Job SummaryThis role focuses on improving vehicle quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction for the Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Police Interceptor.
This position works at the systems engineering level, bridging Body Interior and Electrical systems, and collaborates closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Suppliers, and Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze daily warranty claims, customer feedback, and dealer comments to identify quality issues.
- Perform root cause analysis on returned parts and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions.
- Support plant quality activities including Stop Ships, Stop Builds, Audits, Campaigns, and Quality Reviews.
- Lead engineering changes for current production vehicles and future minor product launches.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
- Support Variability Reduction Teams (VRT) and work with suppliers to resolve subsystem quality issues.
- Lead engineering trials and implement running changes.
- Issue Engineering Alerts and initiate engineering concerns to support quality objectives.
- Maintain quality documentation, KPIs, and Top Quality Concerns at the subsystem or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to senior leadership, including Vehicle Quality Reviews and Engineering Management updates.
- 2-5 years of experience in Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
- Experience with Body Interior systems, such as:
- Seats
- Restraints
- Door Trim
- Instrument Panel (IP) & Cockpit
- Understanding of Electrical and Electronic Systems, including:
- Electronic modules and switches
- CAN communication
- System-level troubleshooting and functional interaction
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/plant-based environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field (required).
- Fully onsite role at the Chicago Assembly Plant.
- Hands-on, fast-paced environment supporting active vehicle production.
- High visibility role with interaction across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Leadership teams.
