The Opportunity

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you may have the opportunity to:

  • Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead, providing project coordination, guidance, and expertise on assigned substation projects.
  • Support a variety of substation projects up to 765 kV in engineering detailed design and EPC.
  • Develop protection and control design deliverables, including protective relays, panel arrangements, one‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and relay panel wiring.
  • Develop physical design deliverables such as yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
  • Prepare calculations and reports for engineering studies (AC/DC load, grounding, lightning).
  • Perform or oversee quality review of electrical substation design packages.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials for procurement and construction.
  • Communicate and coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate design activities with other disciplines.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
  • Present proposals, designs and project activities.
  • Potential travel to client and vendor offices and/or project sites for design reviews, construction coordination and field verification.
  • Manage and prepare design budgets and schedules.
  • Provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively provide guidance on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies; may own, maintain, update, or develop engineering standards.
  • Apply knowledge and ensure compliance with B&V quality program; establish related processes and promote a culture of quality.
  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects; conduct research and develop recommendations for equipment or materials selection.
  • Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods; manage assigned budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Develop and apply advanced engineering solutions to complex problems; review lower‑level engineering work and manage task delegation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external team members on complex projects; define project schedules for single or multiple disciplines.
  • Determine key client interests and drivers; communicate them to the project team and develop approaches to address these concerns.
  • Identify future client needs and position B&V for the future; support business development or pursuit activities.
  • Serve as the technical specialist within a broad or specialized area; support multiple complex projects with advanced engineering concepts.
  • Assist in performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions; mentor lower‑ and mid‑level professionals.
