Nexstar Media Chicago - WGN9, Antenna TV network, Rewind TV network, and News Nation   WGN TV 9 and News Nation Network headquarters, located in Chicago, has an immediate opening for a full-time, IT oriented, Broadcast Maintenance Engineer.  The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide daily and on-going engineering maintenance and operational support for our large operation here in Chicago.

WGN and News Nation are Nexstar Media Group (NXST) companies.  The national news cable network currently reaches 75 million television households across the United States.

Experience and Skills:

*** Knowledge of current news operations, media production, streaming and IT systems including studio and control room automation, master control automation, ENPS newsroom, virtual machines, cameras, wired and wireless audio gear, master control and airpath systems, satellite transmission, and streaming encoders, etc.
* Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity using ping, trace route and other command line tools
* Ability to configure networking on servers, receivers and broadcast equipment
* Knowledgeable in how signal flow and data flow works in a broadcast environment
* Understanding video resolutions such as 1080i and accompanying bandwidth
* IP and analog audio, Dante a plus
* Ross Xpression/Tessera and LED Video walls/Processors experience a plus
* Troubleshooting skills and ability to understand system drawings
* Must be able to read and understand schematic and signal-flow diagrams
* Knowledge of remote feed technology including Dejero, TVU, Haivision, etc is desirable
* Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
* Understanding of IP LAN/VLAN/WAN/VPN networking setups and architecture is a plus
* IT skills including IP networking concepts and equipment, switches, KVMs, network storage systems, RAID systems, administration, Windows and Linux platforms, etc. is desirable
* Working knowledge of common television test equipment including signal generators/analyzers, scopes, etc.
* Understanding of software applications for media production and distribution
* Good verbal, written, and people skills plus working as part of a collaborative team
* Experience in systems integration and installation a plus
** Requirements:
*** Five (5) years' experience as an IT technician or maintenance engineer in a media facility is desired
* An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is a plus
* Ability to lift 50 lbs
* Knowledge of common business software applications
* This position will require shift work which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime as situations will sometimes require.
* This position requires membership in IBEW 1220.**#LI-Onsite
**** Compensation:**$27.32 to $45.76 per hour - commensurate with applicant's experience and skill level
