Purpose
Execute complex technical transportation engineering techniques, procedures and criteria for transportation and infrastructure projects. Assist in developing sustainable transportation solutions to make communities more livable by reducing traffic congestion, promoting multiple modes of transportation, supporting land development, and improving safety for all users.
Responsibilities- Leadership and Direction:
Receive broad guidance on key objectives and policy matters; independently apply extensive engineering knowledge; review work for quality assurance. May serve as lead/resource and provide feedback to managers. - Operational and Company Level: Work with senior members to learn transportation engineering and planning; assist with marketing to establish new clients and enhance relationships; coordinate with other disciplines and internal groups.
- Do the Work:
Develop detailed roadway designs with project teams; evaluate complex engineering problems; execute technical assignments and lead across phases of transportation projects under supervision; interact with clients as needed; prepare maps and graphics for meetings and data analysis; conduct field reviews and data collection; research trends and best practices; contribute to stakeholder engagement and present recommendations. - Documentation and Compliance:
Prepare engineering plans and reports; integrate environmental considerations into roadway design (stormwater, drainage, environmental resources); obtain permits and ensure compliance with regulations; lead grant applications; draft transmittals, memos, meeting minutes, letters, proposals; prepare reports, plans, specs, schedules, costs, permits/designs; coordinate field visits and data collection; monitor progress for technical accuracy, schedule and budget; oversee designers and EITs; prepare internal and external presentations;
conduct technical quality control; lead proposals and client/outside agency communications; maintain project files; develop procedures/tools for others; follow QA/QC procedures and assist in QA/QC reviews; mentor junior staff.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required; completed transportation engineering/highway design coursework preferred.
- Five or more years of professional engineering experience with emphasis on transportation engineering; EIT Registration required, or alternatively six or more years of transportation experience; PE Registration is preferred within six months.
- Experience with preparation of roadway/traffic construction plans and studies; QA/QC experience; proficiency in Microsoft Office; valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Experience in roadway engineering design including urban and rural interchanges, intersections, traffic management, planning, concept alignments, geometrical layouts;
Proficient in Blue Beam, Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D;
Auto Turn and Guide
SIGN preferred. - Knowledge of DOT permitting standards, ADA standards, construction practices; ability to work with minimum supervision on design elements and calculations.

Salary:
Range $85,000 - $100,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
