Transportation Design Engineer

Base pay range

$40.00/hr - $50.00/hr

CKL Engineers is a multi-disciplinary professional services firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Orlando, Florida. We provide infrastructure planning, engineering, and construction management services to a variety of public and private clients.

• Use manuals, guidance, standards, and engineering judgment to provide infrastructure solutions on regional surface transportation projects.
• Provide design and construction management services for clients and partner firms, including on‑site project representation/inspection throughout Chicago and/or Northern Illinois.
• Facilitate client interactions to build your network and demonstrate leadership within CKL and the industry.

• Build upon our existing relationships and foster new relationships.
• Be flexible and open to new experiences.
• Be active in the larger engineering community through industry trade groups.
• Be a strong consensus builder and team player.
• Be a continuing learner – willing to challenge yourself and grow with the company.
• Be skilled in technical writing, documentation, proposal writing, and presentations.
• Be willing to take on a myriad of tasks inside and outside of the market to sustain and grow a small business.

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field required.
• P.E. preferred.
• E.I.T required with ability to receive P.E. license within 1 year.
• Knowledge and experience working with CAD design software such as Micro Station/GEOPAK/AutoCAD/Civil3D.
• 4–8 years of experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Private and/or public sector engineering experience.
• Qualified applicants must pass background and substance abuse test.
• Qualified applicants must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be legal to work in the USA.
