We are working with established clients across the globe to deliver the Energy Transition through major transmission and substation projects, electrification and decarbonization programs, expanding grid capacity, high‑voltage interconnectors and offshore grids. You’ll be responsible for design, oversight and coordination with early‑career professionals, clients and sub‑consultants, and will direct, oversee and be in charge of technical quality for challenging engineering tasks in accordance with client expectations, scope, budget and schedule.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university.
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably for electrical utility clients, including one or more of the following facility types: electrical substation, transmission and distribution, thermal generation.
- Experience in structural engineering aspects of utility projects, focusing on design of structures typically used within an electrical substation and/or related energy infrastructure.
- Proficient in structural analysis tools such as Mathcad, RISA, STAAD, STAAD Foundation, RISA3D, RISA Foundation, LPile, etc.
- Work effectively with multidisciplinary global project teams, clients and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to a learning environment, support fellow engineers, and mentor or be mentored while taking advantage of career development opportunities.
- Support the team to instill an inclusive culture that values diversity of thought and lives Jacobs’ Culture of Caring.
- Provide technical direction and review of designs developed by intermediate and entry‑level engineers.
- Review existing client standards and incorporate them into program and project delivery.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and ensure consistency in design.
- Develop conceptual designs and scopes of work for projects undergoing regulatory approvals.
- Respond to contractor requests for information (RFI).
- Attend and participate in project pre‑bid meetings.
- Perform a technical review of bids received and make recommendations on the most qualified bids.
- Attend construction kickoff meetings.
- Lead constructability meetings with the construction oversight team.
- Guide the project through the engineering activities in the stage‑gate process.
- Review As‑built drawings and approve them when finalized.
