Senior Traffic Engineer, PE - Equity & Growth

• Mentor and develop engineering staff.
• Collaborate across internal teams and external clients.
• Develop project deliverables (reports, plans, specifications, estimates, utility coordination).
• Serve as an extension of agency staff in agency offices under on‑call contracts.
• Design and evaluate transportation solutions, including:
• Traffic signal design
• Sign and pavement marking design
• Construction staging and work zone traffic control
• Vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle detour signing
• Transit station amenities design
• Fiber and network design
• Intersection control evaluations
• Signal and roundabout feasibility studies
• Transportation Management Plans
• Intelligent Transportation Systems

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil, traffic, or transportation engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in traffic engineering, studies, ITS, and/or transportation technology.
• Illinois PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Leadership, project management, and mentoring skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CADD platforms such as Open Road Designer or AutoCAD.
• Experience with traffic engineering software, ITS/CAV systems, or transportation technologies.
• Experience developing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) preferred.

Salary Range: $107,100 – $126,000. Compensation is based on education, experience, skills, location, internal equity, market analysis, and specific qualifications.
