Responsibilities- Mentor and develop engineering staff.
- Collaborate across internal teams and external clients.
- Develop project deliverables (reports, plans, specifications, estimates, utility coordination).
- Serve as an extension of agency staff in agency offices under on‑call contracts.
- Design and evaluate transportation solutions, including:
- Traffic signal design
- Sign and pavement marking design
- Construction staging and work zone traffic control
- Vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle detour signing
- Transit station amenities design
- Fiber and network design
- Intersection control evaluations
- Signal and roundabout feasibility studies
- Transportation Management Plans
- Intelligent Transportation Systems
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil, traffic, or transportation engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in traffic engineering, studies, ITS, and/or transportation technology.
- Illinois PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Leadership, project management, and mentoring skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CADD platforms such as Open Road Designer or AutoCAD.
- Experience with traffic engineering software, ITS/CAV systems, or transportation technologies.
- Experience developing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) preferred.
Salary Range: $107,100 – $126,000. Compensation is based on education, experience, skills, location, internal equity, market analysis, and specific qualifications.
