Role
Arcadis is currently seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with at least 25 years’ experience to join our team on a Part Time As Needed (PTAN) basis. PTAN represents a weekly framework where there are no scheduled regular hours, and the PTAN employee simply works only hours on projects as available from time to time.
In this role you will provide senior level technical oversight or independent technical review for a variety of project deliverables in connection with the investigation, site strategy, remediation alternatives and project execution for a wide variety of environmental remediation activities including former chemical facilities, refineries, pipelines, corrective actions, and mining as well as Superfund multi‑party participation ranging from landfill to sediment sites.
RoleAccountabilities
- The SME will work across a broad spectrum of client teams within North America to provide input into site-wide remediation strategies and senior review of technical deliverables for major energy clients.
- Rely on their strong technical and/or regulatory background with knowledge of industry accepted site management practices, tools and techniques to enhance site closure approaches.
- Provide senior level oversight and/or stewardship visits to client sites during field execution phases.
- Effectively use their interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with other team members and clients, and to handle multiple tasks concurrently while meeting deadlines. In some cases, the SME could also lead development of technical works for client projects with support of other Arcadis staff and resources.
- 25 years experience in the environmental management and/or consulting business with a focus on environmental investigations, remediations, and site closure.
- Bachelor of Science in environmental, geology, engineering or related technical subject.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with project management and client management.
- Must be a team-oriented and a flexible individual who has the initiative and ability to tackle new projects, challenges, and concepts, as project teams can be spread over several offices, and direct supervisor may not be local.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, & Power
BI).

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $122,478 – $208,212.
Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
