Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You'll Do
As a technical leader, you will play a central role in shaping impactful transportation and transit projects while helping develop the next generation of civil engineers.
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering components for transportation and transit projects, with emphasis on utilities, site development, grading, and stormwater management systems
. - Serve as the technical authority for design decisions, ensuring quality, innovation, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Produce and review detailed engineering drawings, models, and plans using AutoCAD and Micro Station
. - Coordinate and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, partnering closely with designers, engineers, and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers through technical coaching, constructive feedback, and career development support.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, client presentations, and strategic project planning.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to TYLin's high standards of technical excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or ability to obtain Illinois licensure through reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
- 15+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a strong portfolio of utility, grading, and stormwater design on transportation or transit projects.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Micro Station
. - Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and mentoring early- and mid-career professionals.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

Additional Information
TYLin is committed to pay equity.
As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $150,000 - $200,000 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer.
