Role description
As a Staff Environmental Engineer, you will work alongside engineers, scientists, project managers, and technical experts on various activities in support of diverse geotechnical engineering design and environmental remediation projects. The engineering work is typically oriented towards environmental remediation and includes sheet pile design, retaining wall structures, slope stability calculations, foundation design including shallow and deep varieties, excavation stability options, and in‑situ stabilization and solidification.
The role will also include project task management, such as coordinating field work conducted out of other offices and managing project schedules and budgets. This role requires a self‑starter and leadership attitude and the willingness to train and mentor junior staff.
- Work with a geotechnical engineering team to assist with the completion of environmental remediation and construction projects, documents for engineering design, and other geotechnical/environmental projects
- Prepare remedial construction documents, calculations, and reports for public or private clients
- Lead the design effort for remediation design projects, including in‑situ solidification/stabilization, retaining wall structures, sheet pile installation, foundation design, and utility support
- Coordinate with various engineering design disciplines to produce cohesive design documents
- Delegate to junior staff or drafting staff to produce design drawings
- Participate in task management/associate project management tasks such as budgets and change orders
- Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies; presentation of results and findings from site investigation and remediation activities
- Traveling (up to 20%) to assist in the field with construction, startup activities, inspections, conducting pilots and full‑scale remedial efforts, and participate in face‑to‑face client, technical, and other stakeholder meetings
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
- Hold Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification and actively working towards Professional Engineer (PE) Certification
- 4 or more years' relevant experience in engineering
- Detailed knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice
- May hold or be working towards an advanced degree (M. Eng., MS, MBA, etc.)
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training preferred

The salary range for this position is $75,240 – $125,400, with actual salaries varying based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
