Senior Industrial Controls Engineer

Responsibilities

• Elaborate, define, and plan technical work from well‑defined objectives, validating requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
• Elaborate and lead the execution of test strategies, execute test plans, generate test reports, and demonstrate compliance with requirements.
• Independently execute technical work, possibly supervising other resources.
• Operate autonomously and self‑driving, requiring minimal supervision.
• Lead improvement initiatives and approve technical solutions within existing architectures.
• Coach and develop less‑experienced employees.
• Gather information and validate requirements to conduct root‑cause analysis and resolve issues with stakeholders.
• Provide new control‑system functionalities and modify existing solutions, including PLC and HMI.
• Document equipment configuration, system functionality, features, and Industrial Controls team processes and procedures.
• Collaborate with Release Management and perform PLC and HMI updates for customers on‑site or remotely.
• Support customers to address unforeseen issues.
• Lead the design effort for a dedicated system.
• Contribute to and potentially lead process‑improvement initiatives.
• Support Production Sites.
• Own a credit‑card for expense management, submitting reimbursements bi‑weekly.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and, if necessary, the ability to drive or fly to client locations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of power systems for designing drive controls.
• Experience with AC/DC drive control architecture.
• Minimum eight years of design and implementation of industrial control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and drives.
• Minimum eight years of programming PLCs, HMIs, and related equipment for industrial control systems (Rockwell products preferred).
• Minimum eight years of experience with automated systems engineering.
• Advanced experience programming Rockwell PLCs (Control Logix, Guard Logix).
• Advanced knowledge of industrial networks.
• Experience developing and programming human‑machine interfaces (Ignition 8, Factory Talk ME/SE).
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Strong background in troubleshooting complex automated systems.
• Experience with JIRA and agile methodology is a plus.
• Experience organizing a team and prioritizing tasks.
• Knowledge of Rockwell and Inductive Automation products is a plus.

Approximately 40% travel to various customer locations in Canada and the United States.
