Overview
we’re looking for a Principal AI Engineer to serve as the team’s technical anchor. This is a senior individual contributor role designed for an engineer who wants to stay deeply hands‑on, set the technical standard, and build agentic AI systems that operate in a highly regulated, mission‑critical environment.
In this role, you’ll partner directly with the Executive Director of AI Engineering to shape the organization’s AI roadmap, architect the systems that connect AI agents to real enterprise workflows, and lead the adoption of frontier capabilities through direct relationships with AWS and Anthropic. You’ll design and ship production AI applications using Claude, build scalable LLM‑integrated systems, and define the safety, validation, and auditability standards required in a SIFMU‑regulated environment.
You’ll also mentor junior engineers through technical leadership, guide architectural decisions, and evaluate emerging AI technologies with a risk‑aware, enterprise‑ready mindset.
- Architecting and operating agentic AI systems connected to internal data, APIs
- Building production AI applications on AWS using Claude and Anthropic tooling
- Designing scalable LLM‑powered systems with strong reliability and security
- Establishing AI safety guardrails: hallucination detection, bias checks
- Conducting AI risk assessments and navigating regulated change‑management processes
- Mentoring junior engineers through code reviews and architectural guidance
- Evaluating emerging AI technologies and advising on adoption strategy
- Expert‑level Python and strong SQL
- Production AI/LLM experience or demonstrable
- hands‑on passion with the engineering depth to ramp quickly
- Understanding of AI risk vectors: hallucinations, prompt injection, bias, etc
- Ability to mentor engineers and elevate technical standards
- Experience in regulated environments or financial market infrastructure is a plus
- Experience with RAG, prompt architecture and retrieval pipelines
