Position OverviewOur Commissioning Studio team, in our Chicago office, is seeking a Senior Building Enclosure Commissioning Project Manager. This role will join a collaborative team of commissioning professionals for a variety of projects while working closely with clients, client reps, architects, and MEP engineers in creating designs for all kinds of spaces.

Most duties will be performed in an office environment. dbHMS currently operates with both hybrid and remote‑only work policies. The remainder of the duties will be performed in a combination of office environment and construction/field environment, which will involve trips to project sites.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and frequently is required to walk. The work typically requires the use of hands to type, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and perform work in the field. The typical week consists of five, eight‑hour shifts.
When in the field, the employee must be able to climb stairs and endure typical construction site conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional overnight travel may be required depending on the employee’s home location. Frequent local field visits in the office metro area will be necessary.
A valid and clean driver’s license is required.

Essential Job Functions- Ability to communicate, manage and interact with clients, team members, and project parties to expand commissioning services.
- Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing and solving potential building design issues.
- Effectively review project details for performance, constructability, and long‑term maintainability.
- Authoring project specifications and reviewing project specifications created by others.
- Develop building enclosure written content to be used for reports, marketing, and white papers.
- Thorough understanding of construction documents and knowledge of the construction administration processes.
- Experience with building enclosure field testing protocols such as ASTM E783, ASTM E1186, ASTM E1105, ASTM D4551, ASTM D8231, AAMA 501.1, AAMA 501.2.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of documents to verify that technical content is accurate, clear, and concise.
- Multitask between several projects that could be at various stages in the construction process.
- Perform field observations at various stages of construction and document deficiencies.
- Effective client and project management through clear communication in both written and verbal correspondence, including providing information on non‑conformance, recommendations, direction, and other communication to building trades and construction managers.
- Provide technical support and coaching to Entry‑Mid Level Engineers.
