We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join a growing multidisciplinary engineering team in Chicago. This individual will support the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems for mission-critical data centers, aviation facilities, and commercial office projects. The ideal candidate is technically strong, collaborative, and interested in growing into a project leadership role while working on some of the most challenging and high-profile projects in the industry.
Responsibilities- Design HVAC, hydronic, ventilation, and mechanical systems for data center, aviation, and commercial office projects.
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, energy analysis, and system sizing.
- Develop construction documents including plans, specifications, schedules, and details.
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and technology teams throughout project execution.
- Participate in design reviews, site visits, construction administration, and commissioning activities.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Support project managers with scheduling, budgeting, and technical coordination.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers as experience allows.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in MEP consulting engineering or related building systems design.
- Experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, aviation, mission-critical, healthcare, higher education, or other large-scale facilities.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of ASHRAE, IMC, IECC, and applicable building codes.
- Experience performing load calculations, equipment selection, and system design.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- EIT certification preferred; PE license or path toward licensure strongly preferred.
