Job Summary

As a Safety and Environmental Specialist on the Corporate Health and Safety Team, you will support and advance S&C Electric’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs. Your work will ensure smooth operations, provide technical consultation, and promote compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Mon‑Fri) On‑Site
Compensation

Estimated annual base salary range: $73,920 – $95,495.4. Individual pay is determined by performance, experience, and other compensable factors. The position is eligible for S&C’s Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) subject to eligibility criteria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Safety & Environmental guidance and support for HSE programs including Behavior Based Safety (BBS), Location Emergency Response Plan (LERP), RCRA, LOTO, confined space, ergonomics, PIV, industrial air and noise monitoring, sustainability, and waste management compliance.
  • Refine existing programs and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency, updating safety policies as needed to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Track and evaluate the impact of federal, state, and local safety & environmental regulations on company operations.
  • Interface with stakeholders such as Operations and technical support to meet safety & environmental objectives and drive action items to completion.
  • Establish and coordinate facility audits, inspections, and observations to verify compliance, follow up with Operations on corrective actions, and analyze audit data for trends.
  • Develop and deliver safety and environmental training content, assess competency gaps, and organize training via a Learning Management System.
  • Perform virtual and physical ergonomic assessments and recommend solutions to improve operator efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive environmental initiatives such as waste reduction, recycling, and resource conservation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental engineering, mechanical/industrial/electrical engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and a history of high‑level performance in safety & environmental functions.
  • Experience with Enterprise EHS Management Software to record injuries, investigate incidents, and track action items through closeout.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation, risk assessment, root‑cause analysis, countermeasure development, and PDCA measures.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: LOTO & NFPA 70E, electrical/electronics laboratories, fire prevention, mobile elevated work platforms, or powered industrial trucks.
  • Ability to manage multiple safety & environmental projects simultaneously and deliver effective solutions.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver training programs.
  • Willingness to travel to other S&C locations within and outside the United States.
  • Experience in chemical or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Data analytics skills and ability to identify correlations in data.
  • Flexibility to work non‑traditional business hours and occasional travel to 5% of the time or less.
Relevant Experience

Two to four years of experience as a Safety & Environmental professional is preferred.

Major Physical Demands
  • Periodic travel by car and/or airline to S&C locations for in‑person inspections and investigations.
  • Standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and handling, occasionally exposed to hot/cold temperatures.
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment.
  • Flexibility to work non‑traditional business hours as needed.
