Electrical Design Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering

Amazon Web Services seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and continuously innovate our rapidly expanding data center footprint. The role focuses on engineering resilient, cost‑effective electrical distribution systems that ensure world‑class uptime for AWS customers.
Key Responsibilities- Design data center electrical systems and collaborate with other disciplines to produce construction documents.
- Create designs that meet quality requirements and stay within budget.
- Coordinate with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal codes.
- Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests during construction.
- Work with commissioning teams to test and validate electrical installations.
- Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
- Travel to sites for reviews and collaborate with onsite engineers; support audits, startups, and engineering evaluations as needed.
- Propose creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions to enhance system performance.
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, or oil & gas).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience researching emerging designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment.
- Professional Engineer license.
- Knowledge of building codes and regional regulations.
- Experience carrying design concepts from exploration through deployment or mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Experience in commissioning.
