At HNTB, you can create a career that is meaningful to you while building communities that matter to all of us. For more than a century, we have been delivering solutions for some of the largest, most complex infrastructure projects across the country. With our historic growth, it is an exciting time to join our team of employee-owners.
This opportunity entails working with our Urban Mobility team of planners and engineers on a diverse range of urban design-related projects from feasibility studies through Phase I and Phase II design. Projects may serve clients including the City of Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Cook County Department of Transportation (DoTH), Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Pace, and various other public and private sector partners.

You'll be engaged in geometric design, drainage, pavement marking plans, bikeway and pedestrian improvements, traffic signal requirements (including cable and conduit layout, signal timing schedules), capacity analysis, traffic studies, safety improvements, lighting and intersection design studies, ADA-compliant plans, staging plans, and trail plans.

You will conduct research on issues, policies, and concepts related to urban design, assist in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation projects, and contribute to the preparation and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
