Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience emphasizing transportation engineering
  • EIT Registration required, or 6+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience accepted in lieu
  • Experience preparing roadway or traffic construction plans/studies required
  • Demonstrated ability to direct tasks and perform QA/QC on projects
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Valid state driver's license or reliable transportation for office/site visits
  • Proficient in engineering software such as Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD/Civil3D
  • Knowledge of DOT standards, permitting, and ADA requirements
Preferred Background & Skills
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Previous experience with urban and rural highway/intersection design
  • Familiarity with Blue Beam, Auto Turn, GuideSIGN
  • Knowledge of environmental factors in roadway design, including stormwater and drainage
  • Experience engaging with clients, agencies, and public meetings
  • Background in sustainable transportation and multi-modal planning
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed roadway designs and engineering plans for transportation projects
  • Lead technical quality control, project documentation, and task direction for designers and EITs
  • Conduct data analysis, mapping, field reviews, and research to inform design decisions
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams, clients, and agencies
  • Prepare technical presentations, meeting materials, and reports for various stakeholders
  • Integrate innovative, sustainable solutions and environmental considerations into project planning
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to professional development activities
