Your Role as Design EngineerThe Design Engineer is responsible for creating designs, any construction drawings, and list of materials for projects involving the installation/removal/modification of electrical utility infrastructure focusing on distribution, and transmission. This role performs field engineering and utilizes engineering standards to provide designs for customers. May coordinate, track and monitor the electrical requirements of projects to meet customer need dates.
This position may be filled as a W2 employee or a contractor, depending on the company’s needs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop designs, construction drawings, and list of materials for projects involving the installation/removal/modification of overhead and underground electrical utility infrastructure focusing on distribution, and transmission
- Understand how to apply engineering standards to designs
- May interact with customers to evaluate their needs for service. These tasks may include the scheduling, engineering, and construction of customer projects connecting to the grid
- Improve efficiency of the Design department’s processes
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 2+ years of utility design experience (Com Ed preferred)
- Knowledge of utility engineering standards and industry codes
- Proficient in drafting, GIS, and pole loading software
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required
- Caliber will consider alternative related education and/or work experience for this role on a case‑by‑case basis.

The anticipated total compensation range for this position is $103,000 – $165,000 annually which includes base salary and an estimated discretionary bonus. The title and final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and qualifications.
