Electrical Designer
An international MEP engineering firm with a growing presence in Chicago is looking to add an Electrical Designer to their team!
Seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to perform full design of lighting, power, and fire alarm systems, including equipment selection, for projects of all sizes. The role involves analyzing system options, evaluating existing systems, coordinating project document completion with clients and internally, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes. Design work will be carried out using AutoCAD and Revit. Additional responsibilities include writing specifications and providing bid and construction phase services.
- Design lighting, power, and fire alarm systems for various projects
- Select appropriate equipment for project needs
- Analyze and evaluate existing systems and system options
- Coordinate project document completion internally and with clients
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes
- Write detailed specifications for projects
- Provide bid and construction phase services, including reviewing bids, answering RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings
- Participate in project walk-throughs and provide field observation reports
- Serve as a technical expert and resource for building electrical systems
- Proficiency in electrical design, particularly for commercial building projects
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of schematic design and specification writing
- Ability to handle bids, RFIs, and shop drawings
- Expertise in lighting, power, and fire alarm systems
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical focus
- 3+ years of professional experience
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
