Overview
IMEG, one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S., seeks a Security Construction Administrator to manage security scope projects as the owner representative. This role includes reviewing contractor submittals, conducting site visits and inspections, commissioning, and project closeout. The position requires keeping the engineer informed of project status and potential issues, and observing work to ensure progress and quality meet contract documents.
PrincipalResponsibilities
- Review project scope, work, and budget for contracted services.
- Meet with the Operations Manager, Project Managers, and design engineers to define expectations and the role of the Construction Administrator.
- Coordinate with the construction team for project scheduling; assist with security-specific scheduling with owners, IT, security, and programming teams; support installation of required components.
- Review contract documents with contractors, clarify and interpret them, obtain information from design engineers, and issue reports on deficiencies.
- Collect data and review change orders with the design engineer; prepare project closeout documents when needed.
- Coordinate with architects and the construction team on construction coordination issues between architectural and engineering design; document events and circumstances appropriately.
- Review applications for payment submitted by the contractor and forward to the Project Manager with recommendations for disposition.
- Prepare project closeout documents and perform final observation of the work, testing, and full commissioning including written commissioning reports.
- Attend construction progress meetings as required and report proceedings.
- Prepare an order form for owner-provided IT equipment and IP address assignments for new security devices.
- Prepare programming scripts, access code request forms, and other documentation for expansion of existing Owner-managed security equipment.
- Familiarity with design processes and interpretation of architectural and engineering design documents.
- Familiarity with security system design and construction for data centers.
- Knowledge of data center design and construction techniques and tools for creating technical plans and drawings.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in building construction or repair.
- Field experience or skilled trades experience is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Clear oral and written communication abilities.
- Ability to travel 20–50% with occasional overnight stays.

- Bachelor’s Degree (Science) or Associate Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent preferred; 6 years of experience minimum, 10 years preferred in building design, consulting, or construction.

- Associates degree or certificate in Construction Management or Engineering preferred; 10 years of experience minimum, 14 years preferred in building design, consulting, or construction.
Salary Range: $101,000–$123,000. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Individual pay is based on experience, knowledge, and abilities.
