Overview

The Sr. Electrical Engineer should be capable of leading and developing teams to complete both small and large projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients are required. The candidate must be well organized, demonstrate critical thinking, and quickly recognize issues to be part of the solution.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Discipline Leader for our Illinois team.
  • Complete electrical power and lighting designs for projects of all sizes.
  • Make major design recommendations and design decisions.
  • Plan design work, calculate costs, and prepare schedules to assign design duties to junior staff.
  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files.
  • Act as an adviser and review correspondence prepared by junior project team members.
  • Evaluate project staffing requirements, analyze problems, and write reports.
  • Attend project meetings, or delegate activities when appropriate.
  • Meet with clients, prepare proposals and presentations while maintaining good client relations.
  • Identify prospective clients, assist in marketing to develop new clients, and develop future projects with existing clients.
  • Assist in project checking for quality control on other projects.
  • Have knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans and drawings.
  • Switch between work on multiple/different projects daily.
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations.
Qualifications
  • Strong leadership and team-development ability to guide projects from conception to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients.
  • Strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and pride in workmanship.
  • Experience in electrical power and lighting design for diverse project sizes.
  • Ability to plan, estimate costs, and prepare schedules; capable of assigning duties to junior staff.
  • Knowledge of coordination with multiple disciplines and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in maintaining project documentation and design data.
