Position OverviewAir Permitting Manager within Invenergy’s Thermal Group. Responsible for managing air permitting for greenfield and brownfield standalone simple cycle and combined cycle combustion turbine projects in the United States. Can be based in Chicago headquarters.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the air permitting process for portfolio of development, construction, and operation projects.
- Serve as primary interface with consultants and state/federal agencies for Clean Air Act Major New Source Review, Prevention of Significant Deterioration, and Nonattainment New Source Review programs.
- Evaluate available thermal power generation technologies to meet market needs, including dispatchable natural gas or fuel oil options and carbon capture.
- Support market entry analysis, site evaluation, permit ability and acquisition.
- Perform and manage internal and external resource activities, such as data verification, memos, customer consultation, site requirements, regulatory submittals, engineering, and environmental permitting.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Procurement teams on equipment specifications.
- Report and execute project management throughout the project development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Government Affairs and Regulatory team to understand key market drivers on air permitting.
- Represent Invenergy LLC with customers, state and local officials, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field of study.
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role and industry.
- Familiarity with utility‑scale major and minor source air permitting requirements for thermal energy production and operation.
- Valid driver’s license.
Ready to travel up to 25% to project sites.
- Strong organizational, networking, leadership, and time‑management skills.
- Willingness to participate in development activities with local communities.
Base Pay: $ - $ USD per year.
Annual Bonus: 25% - 40% of base salary.
