Mechanical Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: Long Term
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer with 0–1 year of experience to support engineering, manufacturing, and equipment‑related activities within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industry. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early‑career professionals to gain hands‑on experience in manufacturing support, process improvement, equipment troubleshooting, documentation, and engineering projects while working in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support manufacturing and engineering operations for production equipment and processes.
- Assist with equipment installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and equipment records.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, and Maintenance teams to resolve engineering issues.
- Assist with equipment qualifications, testing, and process improvement initiatives.
- Support investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for equipment or process‑related issues.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and company quality standards.
- Participate in engineering projects and cross‑functional team activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Follow company policies and support operational excellence initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 0–1 year of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or manufacturing industry (internships or academic projects are welcome).
- Basic understanding of manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings and mechanical principles.
- Familiarity with GMP, GDP, or regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts is a plus.
