Planning & Mobility Intern

This opportunity entails being under close supervision and assisting the Planning and Mobility department by performing basic assignments in the areas including, but not limited to Transportation Planning, Land Use Planning, and Urban Mobility. This position is usually on a part-time, temporary, or co-op basis.
Our Chicago-based Planning & Mobility team is a group of over 20 planners and engineers who work together to take projects from vision through design. Skills interns use and learn include GIS, graphic design/infographics, street design, CAD, field work, community engagement, transit policy, transportation demand modeling and other data analysis. Typical projects that interns work on include: bus priority and multimodal corridor studies;
regional rail, bike, micromobility and other multimodal plans; trail feasibility studies, and grant writing.
Our Chicago internship program offers a robust professional development experience for interns to connect with other disciplines in various departments; attend lunch and learns, social networking events and workshops/trainings; and go on field trips to project sites. Relocation and housing are not provided for this position.
What You'll Do:
- Assists project team members with various support tasks.
- Conducts basic research and data collection.
- Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.
- Assist in the development of graphics, presentation materials and reports.
- Performs other duties assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Enrolled in a related undergraduate or graduate program

- Strong interest in transportation and infrastructure.
The approximate pay range for Illinois is $23.18 - $34.76. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position based on all selected locations within the state at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
