Vale Group, a nationwide specialized recruitment firm, has partnered with a company based in Chicago, IL, who is actively searching for an experienced Mechanical Engineer (MEP) to work onsite for an opportunity paying up to $130,000 per year, based on experience. Our client is an established consulting organization delivering engineering, program management, and construction management services across energy and technology infrastructure, water resources, transportation, and aviation projects nationwide.
This position is built for a mechanical engineer with MEP consulting experience spanning healthcare, education, corporate workplace, retail, and mission-critical facility types, in addition to general commercial projects, along with a working background in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building controls, and technical specification writing.
Requirements of the Mechanical Engineer:- MEP consulting experience across a mix of commercial and institutional project types
- Solid technical grounding in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design
- Experience with mechanical system layout and specification writing
- Comfortable coordinating design work with architectural and engineering counterparts, both internal and external
- Open to candidates with roughly 3+ years of MEP design experience, whether PE-licensed or EIT-credentialed and working toward licensure
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with a clear path to licensure
- Working knowledge of building controls/BAS integration within HVAC design
- Healthcare or mission-critical facility design experience is a plus
- Strong command of current building codes and MEP-specific industry standards
- Proficiency in Trane software and AutoCAD
- Design and lay out mechanical systems using CAD tools
- Perform system calculations using appropriate engineering software
- Coordinate design work with internal and external architectural/engineering technical teams
- Take ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of assigned work
- Help the team meet established project deadlines
- Apply working knowledge of Trane software to system design and analysis
- Support specification writing and related design documentation
- Assist with broader MEP coordination across project disciplines
- Support as needed
