A nationally recognised structural engineering consultancy is looking to add a Structural Technician to its growing Chicago office.
This is an opportunity to join a highly respected building structures firm with a strong presence across the Midwest and a portfolio that spans commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, residential, higher education, healthcare and renovation projects across the United States.
The team operates in a collaborative environment where technicians work closely with engineers throughout the design and delivery process. From day one, you'll gain exposure to project coordination, site visits, building modelling and drawing production while contributing to complex and architecturally significant projects.
Structural Technician Chicago, Illinois | Hybrid WorkingYou will be responsible for developing structural drawings and BIM models while supporting engineers and designers throughout project delivery.
Responsibilities- Produce structural construction documents and detailed drawings
- Develop and maintain BIM models using Revit
- Coordinate structural designs with architectural and MEP disciplines
- Extract and interpret information from multidisciplinary models
- Assist engineers with project delivery and technical coordination
- Participate in field surveys and site visits
- Review shop drawings and construction documentation
- Apply company drafting and BIM standards across projects
- Identify coordination issues and assist in resolving constructability challenges
- Support projects from concept design through construction administration
- Experience as a Structural Technician, BIM Technician, CAD Technician or Structural Drafter
- Strong proficiency with Revit
- Experience producing structural drawings for building projects
- Understanding of structural systems and building construction
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary design teams
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Associate Degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology or a related field is advantageous but not required
- Desire to continuously develop technical and modelling expertise
