What You Can ExpectAs a Project Developer, you'll play a key role in advancing ENGIE's utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects across the United States and Canada. You will support and manage projects through all phases of development, including site feasibility, land and permitting strategy, stakeholder and community engagement, environmental review, investment committee approvals, and preparation for construction. Working cross-functionally, you will help ensure projects advance efficiently while meeting technical, commercial, regulatory, and sustainability objectives.
You'll collaborate closely with land, interconnection, engineering, pre-construction, project delivery, and commercial teams to identify opportunities, mitigate risk, and advance projects that support ENGIE's growth strategy and the transition to a zero-carbon future. This role offers the opportunity to engage with communities, public agencies, industry leaders, and internal decision-makers while helping shape the next generation of renewable energy infrastructure. What You'll Do- Lead the development of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects from feasibility through the start of construction
- Direct project development activities including permitting, environmental reviews, interconnection, land acquisition, and design in partnership with internal subject matter experts and external consultants
- Manage permit applications, regulatory filings, and agency interactions while supporting public hearings and stakeholder engagement efforts
- Build and maintain relationships with landowners, community stakeholders, public officials, regulatory agencies, and key project partners
- Evaluate project risks, opportunities, and development strategies to support successful project advancement and investment decisions
- Support project financing, energy offtake, due diligence, and M&A activities, including financial review, underwriting assumptions, and investment committee materials
- Maintain development schedules, project tracking tools and reporting to ensure progress against critical milestones
- Monitor industry trends, policy developments, and market conditions while representing ENGIE at industry events and renewable energy forums
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Finance, Economics, Energy, Planning, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in renewable energy, utility, infrastructure, environmental, large-scale project development, or oil and gas project management
- Experience advancing projects through permitting, regulatory review, stakeholder engagement, and key development milestones
- Proven project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing priorities, manage project risks, and drive multiple work streams simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with landowners, community stakeholders, regulatory agencies, consultants, public officials, and cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate project risks, opportunities, and commercial considerations to support development decisions
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
