About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operational team based in George . This role is crucial for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations for exploration and production wells. You will be responsible for the design, planning, and execution of drilling programs, ensuring adherence to stringent safety and environmental standards. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to significant projects within the Oil & Gas sector, working in a supportive environment that values innovation and technical expertise.

You will collaborate closely with subsurface teams, rig personnel, and service providers to achieve project objectives and maximize operational success in the Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and plan drilling programs, including well trajectories, casing designs, and cementing strategies.
  • Supervise and manage drilling operations on-site and remotely, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Conduct technical reviews of drilling plans and procedures, identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Manage drilling budgets and control operational costs effectively.
  • Troubleshoot drilling problems and implement solutions to minimize non-productive time (NPT).
  • Prepare detailed drilling reports and performance analyses for management review.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in drilling engineering , with a strong background in the oil and gas industry .
  • Proven experience in well design, directional drilling, and managed pressure drilling (MPD).
  • In-depth knowledge of drilling equipment, fluids, and completion techniques.
  • Strong understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in drilling operations .
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
