About the RoleWNDR Museum Chicago is looking for individuals to join our Ambassador team! Ambassadors play an integral role in shaping the entire guest experience, offering top‑notch customer service with a dose of fun and genuine human interaction that adds to our guests’ overall experience of “wonder”. This job is perfect for those with previous experience in the hospitality industry, retail or other customer service positions.
This is a part‑time, on‑site role located in Chicago, IL.
Essential Functions- Engage warmly with guests, facilitate meaningful interactions, answer any questions, and actively take steps to correct any guest issues.
- Arrive on time and be ready for pre‑shift meetings and communicate effectively with other Ambassadors and Floor Managers.
- Facilitate authentic museum experiences for guests through meaningful interaction.
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of our space, exhibits, artists and WNDR culture.
- Facilitate the flow of guests while maintaining safety and security of exhibits and guests.
- Attend trainings and monthly all‑staff meetings.
- Work in all aspects of the museum floor experience, including retail, food and beverage, box office, and special events.
- Learn and process transactions on ticketing and POS systems.
- Keep the space clean and orderly for everyone’s enjoyment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience in museums, hotels, restaurants, or other guest‑facing hospitality positions.
- Value collaboration and act as a team player.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; related work experience accepted.
- Knowledge of POS or ticketing systems is a plus.
- Knowledge and love of art or technology is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including opening/closing shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Mobility: consistently walk and move around.
- Stationary tasks: standing, reaching, maintaining balance while walking.
- Body movements: kneeling, crouching, climbing, bending, or stooping may be required.
- Equipment handling: pushing or pulling equipment such as shelving bays, dollies, and carts.
- Lifting: lift, carry, and place items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Exposure to multi‑sensory stimulation such as multiple recorded audio tracks, crowd noise, lighting changes, strobe lights, and multiple video devices.
