Deck Run Crew

The Apollo Theater is looking for a Deck Run Crew for the upcoming production of Vape! The Grease Parody.

Initial Contract thru:
January 3rd, 2027 (5 shows/wk thru Sept 20, 7 shows/wk starting Sept 22)

Note:

You are welcome to apply with partial availability, as we will need subs throughout the run.

Pay:$20/hour (Performances paid at 4 hour minimum)

Position Overview:

Vape! The Grease Musical is seeking an experienced stagehand to support an upcoming production at the Apollo Theater Chicago. This role will report to the Production Stage Manager and work in tandem with the Assistant Stage Manager on all necessary backstage/deck duties.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in pre-show onstage setup (props, set pieces, etc.)
• Take performance cues from stage manager and maintain the smooth running of the show backstage
• Participate in any necessary scenic changes, prop hand-offs or quick change assistance as necessary for the deck run crew track.
• Maintain props and report all necessary repairs/replacements to stage manager

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as stagehand and/or run crew member in a theatrical setting (preferably with musicians)
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Strong ability to deal diplomatically and often under pressure with creatives, actors, producers, house staff
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive
