Addison Group is partnering with a well-established, rapidly scaling organization to identify an Assistant Controller to support a complex, multi-entity accounting environment. This role will play a key part in driving accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting compliance across a distributed operating footprint.

The Assistant Controller will work closely with senior accounting leadership and oversee a small team, contributing to both day-to-day execution and ongoing process improvement initiatives.

This role offers a hybrid work schedule based in downtown Chicago (3 days onsite / 2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and help lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Ensure timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis
  • Oversee intercompany activity, eliminations, and foreign currency transactions
  • Own and enhance monthly accrual processes and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including system enhancements and automation
  • Partner with regional finance teams to ensure consistent application of accounting policies
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to support accurate financial reporting and compliance
  • Assist with external audits and coordinate with third-party service providers
  • Partner cross-functionally on inventory, cost accounting, and operational reporting
  • Support departmental reporting and ad hoc analysis as needed
  • Contribute to initiatives tied to growth, new offerings, and geographic expansion
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred
  • 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting and/or industry
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience supporting multi-entity or international operations
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring team members
  • Background in operationally complex or inventory-oriented environments preferred
  • ERP system experience (cloud-based platforms preferred)
  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills
