Addison Group is partnering with a well-established, rapidly scaling organization to identify an Assistant Controller to support a complex, multi-entity accounting environment. This role will play a key part in driving accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting compliance across a distributed operating footprint.
The Assistant Controller will work closely with senior accounting leadership and oversee a small team, contributing to both day-to-day execution and ongoing process improvement initiatives.
This role offers a hybrid work schedule based in downtown Chicago (3 days onsite / 2 days remote).
Key Responsibilities- Support and help lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Ensure timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis
- Oversee intercompany activity, eliminations, and foreign currency transactions
- Own and enhance monthly accrual processes and balance sheet reconciliations
- Identify and implement process improvements, including system enhancements and automation
- Partner with regional finance teams to ensure consistent application of accounting policies
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to support accurate financial reporting and compliance
- Assist with external audits and coordinate with third-party service providers
- Partner cross-functionally on inventory, cost accounting, and operational reporting
- Support departmental reporting and ad hoc analysis as needed
- Contribute to initiatives tied to growth, new offerings, and geographic expansion
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred
- 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting and/or industry
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
- Experience supporting multi-entity or international operations
- Prior experience leading or mentoring team members
- Background in operationally complex or inventory-oriented environments preferred
- ERP system experience (cloud-based platforms preferred)
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills
