This is a senior, high‑ownership accounting role for someone who wants to run an entire function end‑to‑end within a fast‑moving real estate environment. You’ll replace a part‑time structure, operate as the day‑to‑day accounting lead across multiple properties and entities, and work closely with ownership and a fractional CFO. If you enjoy autonomy, hands‑on execution, and improving processes while staying close to the business, this role offers the chance to truly own outcomes.
Responsibilities:Core Accounting Operations
- Maintain daily cash visibility and monitor activity across bank accounts
- Post journal entries, receipts, and transactional activity across entities
- Manage high‑volume AP/AR, including invoice intake, coding, payments, and collections
- Prepare deposits and initiate ACHs/wires
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Complete bank reconciliations
- Record loan payments and reconcile principal, interest, and escrow
- Calculate management fees, reimbursements, and intercompany activity
- Prepare past‑due rent reporting and ownership updates
- Support quarterly distributions and cash planning
- Prepare budgets, CAM reconciliations, and property‑level reporting
- Coordinate 1099s and support external tax filings
- Manage real estate tax payments and annual reporting requirements
- Support audits, refinances, acquisitions, dispositions, and new entity setup
- Serve as the Yardi system owner (setup, maintenance, chart of accounts, bank accounts)
- Improve workflows and streamline processes
- Maintain visibility into receivables, payables, and cash position
- Partner with leadership on ad‑hoc analysis and decision support
- 7+ years of progressive real estate accounting experience preferred
- Experience managing multiple properties and entities
- Comfortable operating as a department of one
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- CPA preferred
- Preference for autonomy over bureaucracy
