Position OverviewThe Assistant Controller will play a key leadership role within the firm’s fund accounting and financial reporting function. This individual will oversee core accounting operations across multiple complex investment vehicles, support audit and regulatory processes, and partner cross-functionally with tax, treasury, investor communications, and deal teams. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, team leadership capability, and experience operating within a fast-paced, transaction-driven asset management environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFund & Financial Reporting Oversight
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closes across multiple private funds and related entities
- Review financial statements prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Supervise preparation and review of investor capital account statements
- Oversee accounting for complex investment transactions, including debt instruments and structured credit products
- Ensure proper valuation, income recognition, and expense allocation methodologies
Audit & Compliance
- Manage year-end audit processes across multiple funds
- Coordinate with external auditors and service providers
- Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements
- Assist with implementation and documentation of internal controls and process improvements
Leadership
- Establish clear timelines and accountability for deliverables
- Mentor team members and support professional development initiatives
- Partner with senior finance leadership to enhance scalability and operational efficiency
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Tax on fund-level tax reporting and compliance matters
- Coordinate with Treasury on cash management and capital activity
- Work closely with Investor Communications on financial reporting deliverables
- Support deal teams with accounting analysis related to new investments and exits
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred
- 6–10+ years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or alternative asset management
- Strong knowledge of partnership accounting and private fund structures
- Experience with debt instruments, credit funds, or structured products highly preferred
- Proven experience managing and developing teams
- Strong technical accounting background (U.S. GAAP)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a high-growth, deadline-driven environment
