SUMMARY

Maestro Cares Foundation (MCF) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper Consultant to oversee and maintain the organization’s financial records, including the general ledger. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong bookkeeping expertise, nonprofit accounting experience, and advanced Quick Books Online skills. The Consultant will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations and reporting.

This engagement is for an initial 3-month contract, after which performance will be reviewed to determine eligibility for transition into a permanent staff position (with full benefits).

SCOPE OF WORK
  • Maintain and update the general ledger using Quick Books Online.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable.
  • Code and post invoices, prepare deposits, and journal entries.
  • Monitor and track credit card expenditures.
  • Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including P&L, Balance Sheet, A/P, and A/R reports.
  • Verify, fact‑check and correct accounting data as needed.
  • Track in‑kind donations and prepare partner invoices in a timely manner.
  • Support the Director of Finance in preparing the annual budget.
  • Assist with preparation for the annual audit and year‑end close activities.
  • Maintain organized, digital and physical filing system of financial documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
  • Update and maintain financial procedures and documentation.
  • Complete special projects or ad hoc assignments as requested by the Director of Finance.

The Maestro Cares Foundation (MCF) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2012 by international music icon Marc Anthony and entrepreneur Henry Cárdenas. The foundation'smission is to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged children and communities in Latin America and theUnited

States. MCF partners with local foundations and organizations tofund sustainable projects that create safe and healthy environments for children, supporting both their developmental and academic needs. To date, the Maestro Cares Foundation hasfunded 45 projects in 17 countries and territories, impacting the lives of thousands of children. Additionally, the foundation runs the Maestro Cares Foundation Scholarship Program, which provides educational opportunities for Latino/astudents who excel academically, have financial need, and are committed to charitable work.

Through 21 university partnership sand individual scholarships, MCF has supported over 150 scholar sin their educational endeavors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Quick Books Online, Excel, and accounting software.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nonprofit accounting/bookkeeping experience.
  • In‑depth understanding of GAAP and nonprofit finance principles.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and integrity.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field
  • Bilingual in Spanish
