Are you passionate about transforming financial data into actionable insights that drive smarter decision‑making? As a Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) focused on Power BI and automation, you’ll help modernize the firm’s financial reporting and analytics environment. This role blends traditional FP&A responsibilities with cutting‑edge data visualization and process automation, shaping how firm leadership accesses and interprets critical performance data.
You’ll collaborate across Finance Systems, Accounting, and practice management teams to convert manual, SQL‑based reporting into streamlined, automated Power BI dashboards—delivering consistent, real‑time insights that elevate firm‑wide decision‑making.
- Design and optimize dashboards – Build, enhance, and maintain dynamic Power BI dashboards and data models used by FP&A and firm leadership.
- Automate reporting processes – Translate and migrate existing SQL‑based reports into Power BI solutions that eliminate manual reporting and improve efficiency.
- Deliver financial insights – Support monthly forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting across business functions and practice areas.
- Collaborate for data accuracy – Partner with Finance Systems and Accounting teams to ensure clean, consistent data and seamless automation across key sources.
- Drive process improvements – Streamline recurring reporting cycles and develop automated workflows using Power BI, Power Query, and Power Automate.
- Enhance planning tools – Support annual budgeting and forecasting with improved visualization, automation, and scenario analysis capabilities.
- Champion best practices – Serve as a subject‑matter expert on Power BI and guide the team in adopting modern analytics tools and techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field; with 3 to 5 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or business intelligence, ideally within a professional services or corporate environment.
- Data skills – Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and the ability to translate and optimize queries for Power BI use.
- Analytical capability – Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with automation tools such as Power Automate or Alteryx.

l – Strong analytical mindset with a focus on data integrity, visualization quality, and process improvement. - Communication skills – Ability to present insights clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders.
- Ownership and initiative – Self‑starter mindset with a drive to deliver high‑quality, efficient reporting solutions.
- Tech‑Savvy – Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI (including Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), Power Query, and data modeling).

CompensationThe base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary.
