Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will oversee critical financial operations, including month-end close procedures, payroll management, and financial reporting. This position requires a strong background in construction, engineering, or project accounting.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and execute month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

- Oversee payroll operations to ensure accuracy and timely processing.

- Perform bank account reconciliations and monitor cash flow activities.

- Reconcile balance sheets and address any discrepancies promptly.

- Collaborate with project teams to ensure proper accounting for construction or engineering projects.

- Maintain and update financial records, ensuring data integrity.

- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets.

- Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial processes and efficiency. Requirements - Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management.

- Strong expertise in month-end close procedures and financial reporting.

- Proficiency in bank account and balance sheet reconciliations.

- Demonstrated ability to manage payroll operations effectively.

- Background in construction, engineering, or project accounting is required.

- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.

- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
