Overview
A very successful commercial real estate management firm seeks a Senior Property Controller to oversee a portfolio of assets. Senior Property Controller will be responsible for overseeing all facets of property accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial office and retail properties. In addition, the Controller will have ongoing contact with the principals, senior management, and will interface with property operations, legal, insurance, and certified public accounting firms.
Responsibilities- Implement, manage, and review the timely preparation of financial statements in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including preparation of all supporting documentation in accordance with various reporting deadlines determined by operating and loan agreements.
- Present, review, and coordinate the annual opex/capex budget process.
- Analyze and report to the senior leadership team the actual vs. budgeted financial results.
- Lead financial reporting, property and corporate accounting, lease administration, tax compliance, treasury, internal control compliance and accounts payable/ receivable.
- Improve the quality of financial results through reorganization of the accounting functions and development of the team.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with required financial policies and procedures.
- Ensure company compliance with various loan covenants.
- Facilitate the completion of annual audits and tax returns while serving as lead liaison to external auditors and tax consultants.
- Participate in strategic and long-term planning.
- Perform other duties and complete special projects as required from time to time.
- 15 plus years of experience working with sophisticated owner/operators of commercial assets.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with advanced degree and/or CPA preferred.
- Superior management, leadership, and development skills.
- Proficiency with Yardi or MRI software preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and multi-tasking skills required.
- Ability to think strategically and analyze data.
- Comfortable with face-to-face communications with ownership and the executive team.
- Willingness to be “hands on”.
$140,000 - $150,000 plus bonus, 401k match and comprehensive health benefits and other valuable peks.
