Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivable​/ Collections

Description We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will support essential financial operations and assist with audit preparations. This contract position offers a valuable opportunity to demonstrate your expertise in accounting processes and could potentially lead to a long-term opportunity.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger entries to ensure proper financial reporting.

- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including timely reconciliations.

- Conduct payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

- Reconcile credit card transactions and monitor cash activity to maintain financial accuracy.

- Allocate costs appropriately across departments or projects to support budgeting needs.

- Assist with month-end close procedures, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

- Support audit preparations by organizing financial records and providing necessary documentation.

- Track and report on government grants and related financial activities.

- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline accounting workflows and improve efficiency.

- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records as needed. Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience with attention to detail.

- Proficiency in managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entries.

- Experience in reconciling credit card transactions and tracking cash activity.

- Familiarity with month-end close procedures and cost allocation processes.

- Ability to handle financial reporting for government grants.

- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.

- Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work across teams.
