Description

We believe that inclusion helps us thrive and grow at United across our collaborative Finance teams consisting of Financial Planning & Analysis, Internal Audit, Treasury, Global Procurement, Controllership, Investor Relations and more. These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning, performance, and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies. Our Finance team plays an integral role in making our airline profitable and successful by meeting our financial goals.

Job overview and responsibilities

This position supports Finance leadership in their roles as partner to the business. As such, this position is directly responsible for executing department strategy to ensure the accurate booking of financial data and for the creation of accurate budgets and forecasts which will be used for informed decision making and in providing accurate external financial guidance. This position is Chicago-based hybrid, requiring 2-3 days in office weekly.

  • Lead efforts to:
    • Build/improve models to generate annual operating and capital plans as well as long range forecast
    • Provide variance analysis and explanation to divisional leadership, senior leadership, and the Finance Department
    • Support contract negotiations
    • Provide leadership to the FP&A organization to ensure accomplishment of goals set by the management team
  • Meeting participation/contribution involving key business and finance issues
  • Create long range plan, annual capital, operating and overhead budgets
  • Present analysis to senior leadership
  • Will have responsibility for a team of financial analysts
  • Significant ad-hoc project, budget and forecast scenario analysis will be required
Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive financial planning & analysis responsibility
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and financial statements
  • Financial analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent analytical and communication abilities
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • MBA or Master's in Finance
  • Enterprise Resource Planning experience
  • 1+ years of technology finance business partner experience
  • Experience leading a team of direct reports

Base pay range for this role is $ to $. The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
