About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic VP, Head Pricing Actuary to lead and modernize our pricing function. This role is responsible for setting the enterprise pricing vision, advancing technical capabilities, and ensuring pricing is a key driver of sustainable growth. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in P&C pricing, particularly in personal lines, combined with a proven ability to lead high-performing teams and transform legacy pricing approaches into a sophisticated, data-driven, and technology-enabled function.
This individual will operate as a senior leader, influencing business strategy and elevating pricing as a core competitive advantage.
- Define and execute the enterprise pricing strategy, aligning with business objectives for growth, profitability, and risk selection.
- Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing pricing team, building strong technical and leadership capabilities.
- Act as a key advisor to senior leadership, translating pricing insights into actionable business decisions.
- Oversee pricing across all products, with accountability for rate adequacy, segmentation, and overall portfolio performance.
- Apply advanced rate making and modeling techniques to enhance pricing sophistication and market competitiveness.
- Partner closely with underwriting and product teams to optimize portfolio mix and support profitable growth.
- Lead the modernization of the pricing function, including tools, data infrastructure, and operating model.
- Drive adoption of advanced analytics and machine learning to improve pricing accuracy and responsiveness.
- Establish scalable, efficient pricing processes and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- FCAS; 10+ years in P&C actuarial roles, including 5+ years leading pricing teams.
- Skilled in personal lines pricing: rate making, segmentation, portfolio management.
- Led major pricing transformation projects with measurable improvements.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and rate filings.
- Experienced in developing high-performing teams and leaders.
- Strategic, commercially focused; effective at stakeholder engagement.
- Proven change leader; streamlined processes and operating models.
- Expert in actuarial pricing, predictive modeling, machine learning.
- Familiar with modern data ecosystems and scalable tools.
- Proficient in Python/R.
- Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related degree.
- Multi-product experience (homeowners, auto, umbrella).
- Knowledge of new data sources and tech for insurance pricing.
Base salary for this role can range from $245,000 to $275,000 based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
