Job Description
The FP&A Director partners with private‑equity backed management teams to design and execute finance strategies that drive measurable value creation. This role blends hands‑on financial leadership, client advisory, and team management, serving as a trusted thought partner to CEOs, CFOs, and PE sponsors.
Key Responsibilities Client Partnership & Value Creation (25%)- Serve as a primary client contact and strategic advisor to CEOs, CFOs, and PE sponsors
- Translate business strategy into actionable financial insights, operating cadences, and performance metrics
- Identify opportunities to expand engagements through additional advisory, interim, or managed services offerings
- Confidently present insights, recommendations, and tradeoffs to executive leadership and investors
- Lead FP&A transformations including budgeting, forecasting, KPI design, and executive reporting
- Build and review robust financial models (three‑statement, cash flow, unit economics, scenario analysis)
- Design and implement management reporting packages used in board, lender, and PE updates
- Support capital structure analysis, earn‑outs, acquisition modeling, and integration planning
- Lead finance transformation initiatives across:
- FP&A optimization
- Shared services / outsourcing strategy
- Drive implementation—not just design—of new processes, systems, and reporting frameworks
- Partner with client teams and third‑party vendors to execute system implementations (Adaptive, Anaplan, Vena, BI tools, ERP)
- Lead and mentor project teams across multiple engagements
- Own work planning, staffing, timelines, and quality of deliverables
- Provide coaching and feedback to Managers and Senior Associates
- Actively contribute to recruiting and talent development efforts
- Contribute to the development of E78 methodologies, tools, and thought leadership
- Support proposal development and client pursuits with practical, experience‑based insights
- Share best practices across engagements and industry verticals
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
- An MBA or other relevant advanced professional qualification is highly desirable.
- 10+ years of consulting and/or industry experience, with a focus on finance transformation, process improvement, M&A, and organizational change.
- Deep experience in FP&A leadership, financial modeling and value creation initiatives
- Proven ability to manage complex engagements, provide strategic direction, and deliver results in dynamic, fast‑paced environments.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, with the ability to direct, mentor, and develop junior staff.
- Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of project management methodologies, business processes, and best practices in finance transformation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to senior client stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.
- Willingness to travel as required to meet client needs.
- Candidates who reside near E78's corporate headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, or NYC are encouraged to work in the office 3 days a week.
- An MBA or other relevant advanced professional qualification is highly desirable.
- Healthcare, Industrials and/or Manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
- Experience working directly with PE sponsors and portfolio company leadership.
The base salary range is $200,000 - $250,000, plus bonus and will be based on experience.
