RWE Americas, LLC is a leading player in the renewable energy sector, committed to sustainable solutions. The company seeks an Asset Management Associate to join its dynamic team.
Role Responsibilities- The Associate will assist the Asset Manager in driving the profitability of solar and battery storage assets (BESS) by analyzing operational and financial performance and identifying the causes for underperformance.
- The Associate will support the development and execution of cost‑reduction or performance‑optimization strategies.
- Asset Performance Optimization:
Monitor asset KPIs, perform trend analysis to detect performance issues, investigate underperformance, and develop and implement strategies to maximize operational performance of renewable energy assets; manage technical issues to ensure strategies are fully analyzed and solutions are implemented. - Financial Management:
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and asset‑level financials to identify opportunities and risks. - Contract Management:
Manage select vendor/service provider relationships and assist in contract alignment reviews. - Reporting:
Provide detailed reporting and insights to internal stakeholders on operational and financial performance. - Regulatory Compliance:
Stay abreast of relevant regulations and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations (local, state, federal, including environmental permits) and internal governance processes. - Process Improvements:
Implement and continuously improve local asset management systems and processes consistent with organizational policies and standards. - Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
Coordinate across departments to resolve asset‑level issues, communicate clearly with cross‑functional partners, and present findings in meetings with Asset Manager supervision. - Establish collaborative relationships with key support departments such as Operations, Engineering, HSSE, Procurement, and Controlling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, and/or 2 additional years of comparable work experience;
Master’s degree or professional certification is a plus. - Minimum 1 year of experience; proven experience in the renewable energy sector preferred.
- Asset Management, Operations, or Controlling experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Applies operational, financial, and contractual knowledge to drive asset performance.
- Understands key KPIs and data resources.
- Investigates root causes of asset issues using trend analysis.
- Recommends standard corrective actions.
- Coordinates across departments to resolve asset‑level issues.
- Presents findings in meetings with moderate supervision.
- Owns performance tracking for a set of assets or region.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to translate technical findings into commercial implications.
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables, and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage internal/external relationships.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Motivated self‑starter, goal‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds.
- Detail‑oriented and has a sound understanding of business concepts.
- This position is an office‑based role with some travel and visits to other RWEA offices and field locations.
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $70,000 - $100,000. The listed salary range is a general guideline and may be adjusted based on scope, responsibilities, candidate’s education and work experience, training, and market conditions.
