Northern Trust is a Fortune 500 financial institution dedicated to serving high‑net‑worth individuals and families. We are seeking a Portfolio Advisor (OH) to join our Family Office Solutions team.
Responsibilities- Manages investment activities for a full set of fee‑generating accounts representing high net worth and ultra‑high net worth personal trusts.
- Assists in the development and recommendation of strategies designed to achieve investment objectives for specific individual clients.
- Analyzes and plans overall investment strategy, revising as goals change, and works closely with the broader client service team to identify and execute opportunities.
- Develops an influential presence within the local client‑facing team, clients, co‑trustees, consultants, legal partners and outside attorneys to ensure communication of client requirements and coordinate portfolio activity.
- Demonstrates proficiency with new investment strategies, tools and capabilities, and portfolio research and methodologies through regular contact with national practices, peers and broader wealth and asset management teams.
- Maintains personal adherence to best practices as measured by the PM Dashboard and related reporting.
- Executes initiatives, new capability rollouts and required training.
- Provides continuous feedback on areas for improvement to leadership on national initiatives, changes and expectations.
- Adheres to National Investment Guidelines, feedback from the REV peer‑review process, and observes sound risk‑management practices.
- Solves complex problems.
- Minimum 6 to 8 years of investment experience working with high net worth and ultra‑high net worth clientele.
- Strong research skills with a track record of delivering consistent long‑term investment performance that meets objectives.
- Solid knowledge of investment and portfolio management theory, accounting, financial principles, investment strategies, instruments and market characteristics.
- Professional designation such as CFA preferred.
- Decision‑making, sales and negotiating skills required to contribute to revenue generation and manage sensitive situations.
- In‑depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own discipline, with basic knowledge of related disciplines.
- Ability to act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Salary range: $114,500 – $194,700 USD (base). Northern Trust offers a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) and pension, health, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability coverage, paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits. A discretionary bonus program, which may include equity, is also available.
