VP, Global Control & Accounting

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead the global accounting, tax, treasury, and financial reporting operations of the Company with overall responsibility for all aspects of the monthly close process. They will be responsible for analyzing financial results and will play a pivotal role in the preparation for and execution of periodic audits, including for our international entities. This role will also routinely interact with the heads of other departments to ensure unknown or un-invoiced expenses are captured in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Global Accounting teams (including Revenue/AR, AP and Payroll) and resolve daily technical accounting queries.
  • Oversee all aspects of accounting and ensure the month close is completed accurately per US GAAP and within the monthly close cycle, including the preparation and review of all Balance Sheet account reconciliations and key accruals.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements to management and support development and preparation of the monthly management accounting package.
  • Oversee tax and statutory financial statement compliance with applicable international and domestic regulations.
  • Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as required from time to time on short notice from Management.
  • Oversee treasury and cash management functions, including liquidity planning and cash flow forecasting.
  • Assist in the preparation for upcoming due diligence, be a central figure in this due diligence, be involved in the payment of special dividends and assist in potential M&A opportunities.
  • Manage banking relationships and coordinate external debt activities and compliance.
  • Ensure that company financial records and reports are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP (accrual basis). Responsible for preparing monthly/quarterly draft financial statements, forecasts, account reconciliations, and other documents to ensure this compliance.
  • Build strong relationships within the accounting and overall finance teams, as well as cross-functionally to support the Company’s business needs.
  • Ensure a strong internal financial control environment across the entire accounting team and help identify and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Ensure thoughtful, timely, and accurate research and documentation of technical accounting matters.
  • Ensure only valid expenses with proper management authorization are paid.
  • Review balance sheet account schedules and reconciliations.
  • Establish solid working relationships with audit, tax, and accounting vendors and serve as the primary point of coordination with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Adapt to a fast‑growing dynamic environment and demonstrate willingness to pitch in when asked to support other areas.
  • In the first 12 months, learn the key aspects of the unique business model, understand performance beyond just numbers, and develop relationships across the organization to foster a client‑service orientation for the finance organization.
  • Review and improve key processes, including the order‑to‑cash process for improvements and compliance.
  • Partner with the IT organization to ensure that the company’s systems meet current and future needs.
About You
  • Qualified CPA (or equivalent), ideally trained within a Big Four accounting firm.
  • Strong technical accounting background with a desire to continue developing expertise.
  • Experience across core finance areas, including some exposure to tax and treasury.
  • Comfortable operating in a global, complex environment with US GAAP knowledge.
  • Proactive and detail‑oriented, with the ability to resolve technical accounting matters.
  • Interest in or exposure to real estate is advantageous, with scope to take ownership in this area over time.
  • Hands‑on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and at a detailed level.
Compensation and Benefits

Axiom’s total rewards philosophy is to be transparent and equitable with all job candidates. The annual base salary range for this role located in Chicago, Illinois is $200,000 – $230,000 plus 30% bonus depending on experience.
