Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is the sponsoring organization for The For Members Only Federal Credit Union (FMO). The Branch Manager/Loan Officer will direct, promote, and coordinate operations to optimize market share, improve efficiency, profitability, and deliver outstanding member service.

Job Summary

The Branch Manager/Loan Officer will lead daily operations at FMO, ensuring compliance with federal regulations while achieving sales goals and maintaining high service standards. The role involves acquiring new members, coaching staff, managing financial decisions, and actively driving business development through community engagement.

General Responsibilities
  • Consistently meet or exceed all goals and member service standards.
  • Adhere to and conduct all business aligned with the Core Values of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Corporate Office.
  • Assist in budget development, management, and financial decision making.
  • Review, analyze, and adjudicate loan applications in conjunction with loan/credit committees.
  • Coach staff to maximize production with sales opportunities, referrals, and marketing.
  • Quarterly review and resolve audit issues in preparation for NCUA and other compliance reviews.
  • Prospect for and acquire new members to achieve monthly goals.
  • Add growth to the Credit Union by coaching staff to cross‑sell products and services.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships through problem solving and follow‑through.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize decision/exception tools to support valuable customer retention.
  • Act as a financial coach by reviewing credit reports with members and identifying suitable products.
  • Coaches staff to assist members similarly.
  • Identify and evaluate potential member needs and refer members to partner departments.
  • Drive business development through community functions and credit union events; make monthly business calls.
  • Develop and retain a high‑performing sales/service team through leadership and coaching.
  • Conduct an annual Member Satisfaction Survey, prepare and communicate action plans within a responsive timeframe.
  • Monitor account quality and prevent fraudulent activity.
  • Meet with and address members’ complaints or concerns.
  • Review and negotiate contracts where appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of member files.
  • Follow all policies, including cash handling, check hold policy, and compliance.
  • Manage passwords securely.
  • Adhere to regulations and organizational policies, staying current with the Bank Secrecy Act, Fair Lending, and Information Security requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure the successful operation and delivery of the FMO promise.
Work Environment
  • Fast‑paced and demanding.
  • Oversees multiple operations simultaneously.
  • Faces deadlines mandated by regulatory and Credit Union standards.
  • Primarily office‑based but may work off‑site during meetings and conventions.
  • Initial travel may be required to market the Credit Union.
  • May work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends; overtime may be required.
Physical Requirements
  • Extended hours of work.
  • Hours may vary based on customer needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business management, or a comparable combination of education and work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task, meet tight deadlines, and maintain composure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with general office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to use financial and registration software.
  • Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in good standing is preferred; should have thorough knowledge of the sorority’s structure and governing documents.
